How did you hear about Mindjet?
From a client of mine, who very gracefully illustrated their data structure on a mind map.
What do you primarily use it for?
Business Planning, Ideation, and Task-based Collaboration.
What is your favorite feature and why?
Amongst the many favorites, ‘Create Tasks’, and what follows on Mindjet Tasks is awesome! This integration is exciting stuff and I really like how this helps action your plans and ideas.
Is there anything the tool helps with that was unexpected?
Sorting out complex business situations – often, client business problems I need to have a deep understanding of – is something I started using Mindjet for recently. I have started to go back to Mindjet after an intense business meeting and structure the thoughts and meeting points on a map. It’s amazing how you can ‘fishbone’ a business problem and arrive at possible root causes/solutions.
Tell us about your map.
This is a business planning map for a software product – drawn high-level and yet to be detailed and fleshed out. The map lists key performance areas and business attributes. I typically start planning with Mindjet and work between this and the numbers on a spreadsheet to check on what’s viable. The map could then grow out to be fairly complex. So, I prefer keeping it high-level for planning and use a second, more detailed, map for execution.

Here at Mindjet, we know the value of sharing ideas. It’s just like philosopher Michel de Montaigne said way back in the 1500s: “It is good to rub and polish our brain against that of others.” The Mindjet User Spotlight series aims to help that little endeavor along by bringing your stories and experiences with Mindjet to the forefront. If you’ve got one to share, don’t be shy! Give us a shout.
