How did you hear about Mindjet? I have been a “mind-mapper” for more than 20 years. I used mind maps in college to take notes, then later as a high school teacher to plan lessons. By 1995, I was teaching mind mapping to my students as a way to prepare for exams, to brainstorm ideas for papers, and even to clear their minds before athletic events. 10 years after that, as a senior trainer working with David Allen, presenting the Getting Things Done seminars, I started using Mindjet.
What do you primarily use it for? My most recent use of the newly updated software was while I was writing my newest book, Your Best Just Got Better. For the 18 weeks that I had to write the manuscript, I actually started each week by first updating my mind maps. The book has 13 “sections” and for each one I made a mind map.
What is your favorite feature and why? My favorite feature of this software is not so much a button to click or a rule to run; my favorite aspect is how easy it is to use. I blog weekly, write articles for magazines monthly, and am working on the next book; I use Mindjet “just about” every day; well, every day that I’m creating content, that is!
Is there anything Mindjet helps with that was unexpected? The ability to save a map as a PDF and share it with a client I’m writing a keynote presentation for or an editor I’m working with is key. In a quick, comprehensive and visually appealing way, I get my ideas in context and into view. Thank you, MindJet!
