How did you hear about Mindjet?
I was searching for mind mapping tools back around 2003. I searched and found several software solutions, and finally landed on Mindjet’s MindManager. The founder’s history also appealed strongly to me.
What do you primarily use it for?
I primarily use it for approaching complex problems, managing tasks and planning, especially strategy and projects. My maps are often used in presentations and MindManager is always running on my computer.
What is your favorite feature and why?
I’m very fond of Mindjet Tasks. I use the Tasks functionality to its fullest, and appreciate the notes, comments and links functionality, too. The connection to Outlook is great and I love the File Explorer Map Parts. Icons and pictures make the maps more interesting for others, whilst filtering makes navigating in big maps easier. The keyboard shortcuts contribute to fast and efficient use.
Is there anything the tool helps with that was unexpected?
Yes, the way that complex issues are systematized and made understandable for me and others. The low user threshold makes the tool easy to sell internally in our organization.
Tell us about your map.
This is a typical map for me. It is small and easy to read; organizing information and preparing presentations. The issue here is French and Raven’s five bases of power (in Norwegian). Other maps are unfortunately restricted by a confidentiality policy.
